Juvenile Justice Committee invites Gopi Shankar Madurai (9th March 2022)

For the first time in India, the Juvenile Justice Committee from Madras High Court has invited Shri Gopi Shankar Madurai, South Representative of National Council for Transgender Persons, who is also an Intersex Rights Activist to address the gathering on Intersex human rights and the plight of gender non-conforming children on 9th March 2022 at MHC Auditorium. The gathering was honoured by judges of the Madras High Court (Justice PN Prakash Ji, Justice M. Nirmal Kumar Ji), Madurai Bench (Justice GR Swaminathan Ji, Justice RN Manjula Ji), Judges from the Puducherry Court, District Magistrate who deal with the Juvenile Justice Committee. Recommendations have been made by Gopi Shankar Madurai, South Regional Representative and soon efforts are going to be made for the inclusion of specific needs of Intersex infants and gender non-conforming children in the Prevention of Children from Sexual Offences Act, 2013. In the meantime, joint efforts will be made by Juvenile Justice Committee and Gopi Shankar Madurai to address the exclusive needs of Intersex Infants and Gender non-conforming children.
